During 1997-2000 he worked as research assistant within the DFG priority research program Ergodentheorie, Analysis und effiziente Simulation dynamischer Systeme. Within this project he wrote his PhD-Thesis on controllability questions for mathematical control systems, supervised by Prof. Dr. Fritz Colonius. During this time he also participated at the DFG Research Training Group Nichtlineare Probleme in Analysis, Geometrie und Physik at the University of Augsburg.

Between 2000 and 2001 he worked in various field of systems management at debis (now T-Systems).

In 2001 he joined the Laboratory for Mixed Realities (LMR) at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne as project leader.
